Birthday Approaching
My daughter is not yet 10 months old, but I'm already trying to decide what to get her for her birthday. I don't plan an elaborate celebration -- it's not our style, and she wouldn't remember it anyway -- but I still have trouble being practical. I want to buy her everything I can think of: toy box, a rocking horse I saw at her day care, clothes, etc., on top of making her the prettiest cake I can. Of course, I have neither the time nor the funds to do all of that, so I've got to make cuts to the wish list.
If someone had asked me a year ago what kind of mom I thought I'd be, I would've said, "practical." However, I find that now that she's here, being practical isn't as easy as it used to be.
