And, Finally, One Year Ago Today ...

After years of hoping for it, I became a mom.

It wasn't an easy journey. After several hours of labor, I wound up needing a C-section. In the operating room, I got sick all over my poor husband. I remember waiting to hear my baby cry and feeling relieved when I finally did. I remember waiting to hear those words, "It's a girl," which, even though my husband and I had decided to wait to find out our baby's gender, we both sort of already knew in our hearts. I remember seeing her for the first time.
